Ensuring That ALL of Us are “Privileged”

What if all of us had the food, medicine, shelter and other necessities that biology requires? And, as a result, lots of free time to live fully and help each other?

We humans can be really stupid. I know that I can. I’ve been there.

We are SO easily divided, allowing fools to not only eat our lunches, but also torch our planet. Heck, they don’t even need to divide us-we divide ourselves.

Oh, my generation is the good one and some other generation-often the boomers-destroyed things for us.

No, say others. It’s not that. It’s the people with different amounts of melanin and therefore skin color-those people are the problem! I mean, WTF!
Black women should hate white women because white women are “Karens”!

Wait! Some have some other criteria for who to denounce and who to hate.

No, it’s gender and sexuality that determines who the enemy is. We didn’t even know there were trans people and now zillions hate them, and hate everyone who doesn’t hate them. More pernicious nonsense that divides us yet so many of us embrace.

The Most Radical And Important Move Right Now Is to HUMANIZE EVERYONE

Now it isn’t that we all need to agree or all need to unite. That will not happen and that has never happened, nor is it required to fix things and address the polycrisis.

But we do need to stop wasting time, energy and attention attacking each other. We need to address actual issues. We need to find the right way to address them. And we need to take the most effective actions we can find to change things for the better.

If we don’t ask the right questions and focus on the right things, we will never get anything done. We will simply watch people with lots of money and power and bad intentions run roughshod over us, over our loved ones and over our planet.

We must focus and think and stop working primarily out of anger and fear. In fact, we must care about people-ALL people-and life, including all the species that share this planet with us. We evolved together and need each other.

Ok. Our Stupid Society Helps Divide Us. Let’s Change Society Instead of Vilifying Each Other.

Really, people aren’t THAT stupid. They are getting a big assist that encourages stupidity. We are in a society that pits us against each other. We are like gladiators put into a colosseum to fight each other. We don’t really have reasons to hate each other. We barely know each other. It’s just the situation: two people go in and only one comes out alive.

When we fight each other, we help our mutual opponents. Notice that I said “opponents” and not “enemies.”

Every member of our species…we MUST recognize their humanity. We need to oppose cruel and destructive ACTIVITIES and ATTITUDES and IDEAS. But we must not dehumanize anyone, even people who are doing terrible damage.

We must simply stop them.

Some of Us Need To Find An Effective Strategy and Work Together

It won’t be all of us. It probably won’t even be many of us, at least at the start. These things ALWAYS start small.

We need to identify the biggest problem, the one that demands our immediate attention. We need to learn the most effective strategy to fix that crisis. And we need to start getting together, taking action, recruiting others.

We have begun. We are The Saners. We need YOU.

You don’t need to be a genius. We aren’t geniuses but we learn from people who have more wisdom than we do. We read Gandhi and King, but also more recent thinkers, people who have inspired and guided effective movements.

That’s what The Saners have done and are doing. We learned from Gandhi and King and others and understand that our best chance to stop the climate crisis-the BIG ONE that will doom us all if we let it-is using nonviolent noncooperation.

This is the power and strategy that enabled ordinary people to topple empires and defeat tyrants. This is the strategy that can disempower Big Oil, end over-consumption, and free billions from lives of senseless labor-labor that wastes short precious lives producing crap and massive amounts of CO2. Labor that actively ruins our children’s future and dooms both our species and other species that we should cherish and protect.

As we work together on this crisis, we will understand deeply how little our trivial differences mean. We won’t obsess on our races, genders, or whatever. We will be making common cause.

One group won’t seize advantage over another because we will understand that the real value in life is being together, caring for each other, protecting our planet, enjoying creative expression and simply living day to day.

Stuff? Producing excessive stuff is a waste of time and therefore a waste of life. We will produce 80%-90% less, and produce almost exclusively necessities, like healthy food, medicine and the like.

We will all stop existing as mere Human Resources and instead live as Human Beings.

We will share a sensible poverty, not having excessive stuff and a wealth of time and energy and inspiration. And we will ensure that everyone has all the food, medicine, shelter and RESPECT they need to live a full and deeply satisfying life. In the world we are creating, everyone will be equally privileged.

Everyone. No exception.

Not An Impossible Idea. An Essential and Achievable Reality.

I admit that this isn’t simple or easy. But it is absolutely doable. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be wasting my time on it. There are many pieces to this strategy, but the framework for success is out there.

We must simply act on it.

I can’t give all the details here, and many actions will be modified to meet a specific time and location and situation. We have a framework, but not a simple clearly defined inflexible set of steps.
