We Are Saners

WeAreSaners.org

We are a worldwide community, determined to use nonviolent noncooperation to fix the polycrisis, halt climate collapse, and replace this dying civilization with a sane, caring one.

We think of ourselves as part of a coalition of groups committed to significant positive change enacted by using nonviolent noncooperation. We don’t need to agree with our partners on everything, but below are some groups that we admire and, in some cases we support and work with them. You may want to check them out and consider joining them as well.

50501

This group, like The Saners, is committed to nonviolent resistance to bring about important change. They organize and promote a series of 50-state protests and were heavily involved in the recent Hands Off protests.

The Saners is interested in becoming partners with the effective and like-minded movement.

Canvas

Canvas was founded by the former student leaders of Otpor!, the group which initiated the movement that removed Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic in 2000. Their group provides information and training to activists and movements worldwide. Having learned first hand what works—and what doesn’t—Canvas has played an important advisory and educational role in many movements in the last few decades. They have many free inspiring and useful videos, pamplets and books on their website. Highly recommended.

Doughnut Economics Action Lab

This group is an outgrowth from the ideas of the bestselling book Doughnut Economics by Kate Raeworth. They promote study of a new economics, one that’s focused on the wellbeing of people and the health of the biosphere of the planet. They expose the weaknesses and flaws in traditional economics and seek to replace it with a more realistic and complete model for understanding and organizating a humane economy.

General Strike US

General Strike US is an impressive coalition of groups seeking to sign up 11 million Americans to hold a general strike. The general strike is probably the most powerful and effective tactic available in the nonviolent noncooperation handbook. Quite often, the general strike is both the catalyst and tactics that forces a tyrant to flee. We urge you to visit this site and sign up to support the strike.

Scientist Rebellion

To stabilize the climate, we must learn to competent unbought genuine scientists. We need to listen to those who have expertise and conscience. That’s Scientist Rebellion, the experts who are warning us as urgently as possible that the time to act, and to preserve a livable Earth for future generations is NOW.

Tiered Democratic Governance

Now that the American experiment has failed, and representative government has been corrupted and replaced by plutocracy, what’s next? Well, after we remove they tyrants and the tyrannical systems, we will need to repace them with something. And that might very well be Tiered Democratic Governance, an idea to structure government from the local level—the neighborhood!—as the core unit of government. Each higher tier is reprented by and reflects the interests of lower tiers. It’s a structure that’s more stable, more durable and much more reprentative of the interests of The People than anything out there today.
