Here’s something you can do right now as a climate activist, as a Saner who wants to stop the authorities from destroying the habitability of our planet with fossil fuels—print out our demand and tape it to the door of a local or federal government office. Or the door of the local branch of a Wall Street financial firm. Or the door of any nearby world-class climate criminal.
Download it from this link. Print it out. Tape it to one or more appropriate doors. Take videos and/or photos. Post this all to social media, or to any online vehicle that you participate in. Use the hashtag #WeAreSaners. Tell people how they can join our group and that THEY, too, can and should printout and tape the demand to other appropriate doors.
I had wanted to have a Saners Climate Demand Day. That was my original plan, But that didn’t turn out as I’d hoped, so now my view is: lets just do this whenever we can, all of us, repeatedly.
I had planned to ask the Saners on our official mailing list to participate in the first official public action of our movement; Delivering our demand to the authorities.
The Saners Demand is this:
We demand an immediate worldwide emergency program, led by climate scientists, to end fossil fuels, end climate abuse and repair our planet.
But a few annoying things intervened. First of all, I developed a respiratory infection and was not feeling up to performing the action myself. And if I can’t lead, I have no business asking other Saners to take the action. I also developed a backache. And my printer stopped working.
So, I’ve been temporarily decommissioned and, frankly, feeling just a tiny bit grumpy.
A Setback Only
I’d missed my target dates—November 3rd and November 4th. But although my minor yet nagging health issues haven’t gone away, they have receded and I’m ready to go.
So what now? Now we all just do it. Those of us who are aching to get moving. Those of us who cannot wait. Those of us who are nervous about starting our efforts so late.
I’ll be doing this very, very soon. And posting pictures on Medium and here and also on telephone polls and walls—out in the physical world. I will not only publicize what we are doing; I will encourage others to join. We need to take action and to grow.
I envision only one more “make a statement” action before we start becoming actual headaches to the authorities, before we get them worried, before we start making their continued climate abuse difficult, embarrassing and ultimately untenable.
Please, if you are ready and up to it, TAKE THE ACTION! Let me know, sharing your experience and pictures if you have them. You can (PLEASE) email me with your report via the Contact Form on this website. And thank you so, SO much!
But it’s not just me thanking you. Your children and grandchildren and everyone who follow us, who manage to live on a damaged but still habitable Earth—they will thank you, too.
