We Are Saners

We are a movement dedicated to harnessing nonviolent noncooperation to stabilize the climate and build a sane, caring civilization.

Addition, multiplication and overcoming division.

We need to clear out the crap we’ve been fed and think everything through—from scratch.
If we continue jailing our thoughts in the constricting framework of lies we’ve been taught, we will never, NEVER be free.

What Are The Lies?

The way things are isn’t necessary or the inevitable result of human nature. It’s a bad choice that we made, as a civilization, a long time ago. Before you were born. You weren’t a party to this decision and have no reason to abide by it.

Indeed, you’d be foolish to go along with the decision that requires you to waste nearly your entire life as a servant to undeserving elites. But that’s what you are doing now.

Things have been bad for a long time, even when times were “good.” You don’t quite realize this because you were never free. Perhaps you thought you had (or have) a good job. It’s even possible that, for a living, you are doing something respectable and useful. Most people don’t have such jobs, but those jobs exist.

And yet NO JOB is sensible or humane. If you are working for someone else’s profit, if you have a boss (that is, essentially, a slave master) you are not free and your life is not owned by you.

Your mind has been so constrained and warped by our sick civilization that you can’t even imagine not having a job or surviving without one. Although the nature of the elites vary depending on your location and the times you live in, nearly all of us work for elites—even the self-employed who allegedly work for themselves.

But ask yourself this: what are you really working for?

Free Work and Enslaved Work

If you aren’t being paid for it, we don’t even call it work. We denigrate unpaid labor—call it a hobby and think of it as frivolous.

If you are painting a picture, writing a story, making music—that’s considered a useless diversion. You SHOULD be making money. For someone else. All of the time.

That’s the values of our civilization. How friggin’ crazy is THAT?

Everything you do because you want to, because you enjoy it for itself, THAT is diminished. In other words, everything in life that is worthwhile is not valued.

Fixing this requires a revolution in our thinking. After we understand the world better, and our place in it, making the changes becomes very compelling and, through nonviolent noncooperation, relatively easy to carry out.

Yes, changing the world means simply refusing to do what’s expected of us and doing something sane, beneficent and sensible instead.

What, exactly, am I suggesting?

The Thinking

The elites issue orders and do nothing. We follow orders because under existing systems, we have no other choice. We must serve the elites because if we don’t, we are left hungry and homeless.
But that only holds insofar as we choose to operate under the existing rules, to be obedient to them, and to not make waves. This is the path of least resistance, and we don’t see much open revolt, so we go along.

Sadly, we can’t seem to imagine a viable alternative. But there is a viable alternative. We The People could take control of our world, the world that we already operate. We can operate it for ourselves and each other — and ignore the elites who are, in fact, superfluous.

And, in doing so, we can choose to operate the world in a sensible and responsible way. We can STOP doing useless things, stop wasting our lives commuting to offices and factories. We can stop producing useless crap, and stop throwing away the best days and years of our lives producing it.

We can produce only what we need, and do it in a variety of climate-friendly ways. Real food, not plastic agribusiness “product.” Well-designed homes that don’t abuse the planet. Clean energy — not fossil fuels.

And less of everything that’s unneeded. Ideally, NONE of anything that’s superfluous. And today, at least 80% of our “work” and the “product” we produce is useless — or even dangerous.

Slashing unneeded production by 80% would be a huge and meaningful step toward stabilizing the climate. Up to now, we have done NOTHING to even put a meaningful speed bump in the climate crisis.

We have literally been destroying the Earth nearly as quickly as humanly possible. The only way to go faster would be having a nuclear war.

And that, too, is a possibility under our current system of greedy elites and warring countries.

Spreading The Word

A better world is possible. You’ve heard that but may not believe it.
Believe it. It’s possible, but it requires people like you and me to stand up, be bold, speak out, and take action.

It requires us to gum up the works of the current deadly civilization and begin building the sane and sensible systems and institutions needed for the civilization we want.

We need to begin building relationships with each other, with Nature, and with the ideas that can replace our failed societies.

Taking Action

In America — and in other countries — people are in the streets. They are speaking out against tyranny, against abuse, against environmental destruction, against senseless greed, and against outright insanity.

There are groups organizing to hold a general strike. There are groups organizing to enable people to help themselves and each other separate from the cruel inhumane systems that dominate our lives today.

Many of us are NOT stuck for ideas, are no longer hypnotized by our masters. We have awoken in the way that is most dangerous to the continued rule of the elites. We have decided to work together, to form a gigantic coalition to change the world and to be free.

Later, we will work out how to proceed, but whichever better ways are chosen, they will be better ways.

Everyone can be a winner even if our pet projects are not selected.

Indeed, any system designed by sane caring adults would be far better than the world we have today — our current world ruled by spoiled senseless children holding tantrums.
