And the people who do care about him are impotent nobodies.
Nobody wants tariffs. Immigrants —legal or not—commit fewer crimes and are, on average, better behaved than citizens born in the United States.
They aren’t rapists or felons with 34 convictions. They aren’t swindlers or frauds. They aren’t fascists or enablers of fascists.
And yet, we are flooded with an endless river of lies that never stops. Media and politicians grab our attention with imaginary problems while genuine crises go unaddressed and get ever more dire.
Screw that.
We are done wasting our time and attention on those vindictive childish losers. We will not fund them, listen to them, follow them, or do a damn thing that they ask us to.
We are the reality-based community. We know what’s happening. We have our priorities and our values and we will focus laser-like on them. We will do what needs to be done.
Nobody else will. We know it’s up to us. Fortunately, we are not stupid, selfish or hateful like the people in charge. Nor are we cowards.
Even Stalin — who is no role model — knew that it isn’t who gets the most votes, but who counts the votes that matters. Similarly, we understand that it isn’t who issues the orders that matters. What matters is who carries them out.
We the people of the United States are the ones who do everything here. To stop the fascist, we simply need to stop cooperating with the regime. We need to refuse orders. Instead of creating crises and worsening everyone’s situation, we can and should and will use our time and energy and effort constructively.
That’s our plan. Currently, we are holding a series of nationwide protests, down to the tiniest village in the reddest state. We are building awareness and the size of our movement.
Organizers at Indivisible and Fifty Fifty One know that it takes only 3.5% of a population to create an effective and unstoppable movement. We are getting close to this number already as the ongoing wave of nationwide protests continue.
What we won’t do
We won’t obey. We won’t kidnap people and deport them to prison camps to be tortured in El Salvador. We won’t ship toddlers with cancer to Honduras. We won’t shrink or deny the benefits we all pay for in taxes: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the rest.
Since the “people in charge” do nothing at all — they depend on us to carry out their crimes —we can prevent these crimes by not committing them.
Yeah, I know there will still be stooges, paid mercenaries and clueless fools, to commit these crimes.
But we can and will get many to defect, to join us. In this way, the good people of these United States can take control.
We won’t do it through existing rules and institutions. They have already failed. Yes, lately the courts have made a few good rulings. But this is too little and too late. Since We The People are sovereign, and our employees and institutions didn’t do their jobs, we are taking control directly.
We won’t be hampered by the rules. Our legislators who make the rules and the institutions that are charged with enforcing them have turned rogue. They are not legitimate.
As Americans know (or would know if civics were still being taught), any government draws its just powers from the consent of the governed.
We did not and never will consent to our own abuse by our employees. We won’t support them, or carry out their orders. We will, instead, stop them and hold them accountable.
What we will do
We will get on with the tasks of dealing with the genuine crises - impending climate collapse, and the worldwide abuse of whole populations by undeserving elites, and the prevalence of systems that reward greed and cruelty and other sick values.
We will stabilize the climate and protect our Earth’s biosphere. We will dismantle cruel systems and remove all power abusers—plutocrats, authoritarian parties, dictators.
Unlike our adversaries, we have a truly positive vision of how our civilization can and should function. We understand that a society built on oil, on money, on greed and selfishness and competition, is a formula for doom.
We will replace this failed civilization, its values, its institutions, and its leaders with one that values LIFE and TIME, not mere stuff. We have been wasting our lives working to produce mostly useless crap in volume to enrich a small number of undeserving morons. In the process, our time — and therefore our lives — slip away and our activities destroy the biosphere and doom our own children.
We are awakening to this. We are too smart to continue this activity. The video below gives a brief look at the beautiful civilization we can and will build. It doesn’t answer every question— it’s a short peek. But this is doable and necessary and the next step for our world if we care, and if we want to survive and thrive.
