This is how you answer the assertion that people today are lazy. The truth is that they are awakening to their abuse. And they don’t like it.
I’m tired of hearing wealthy people who don’t need to work and executives who produce nothing but always tell us what to do, nagging and complaining: “People don’t want to work anymore!“
Aren’t you, also, tired of this?
Why would people NOT want to work? I mean, we’ve all been taught that work is necessary, that it builds character, that work gives us direction and meaning and that without it, our lives are empty and directionless.
Yes, we’ve been taught that crap. We probably even pass this crap along to our children. In many cases, our children understand this is bullcrap.
And perhaps that’s why “kids today don’t want to work.” Maybe it’s wisdom.
My favorite quote about work, by Charles Bukowski, makes it clearer than I ever could. You might want to commit this quote to memory:
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, piss, brush teeth, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”
Keep A Merciless Spotlight on the Insanity of Our Civilization
Work for elites and for profit is outright nuts. It makes no sense. When we go along with this, we throw away our short precious lives producing garbage for idiots. In the process, we ruin the biosphere and doom our own children.
Needless to say, we must stop doing this. But we are in a pickle. How do we stop? And what should we do instead?
First things first: kick the support out from beneath our cruel destructive civilization of unenlightened self-interest. Point out to everyone, especially authorities and “experts,” that consciously ruining the planet we all live on is insane. We must stop spewing gigatons of CO2 into the atmosphere-or die.
I choose LIFE, not death. How about you?
A Way Out
We are taught that there is no alternative to living in this stupid way. Work and money are fundamental. We can’t survive, we can’t get food, without it.
Which is obviously false. All we want to do is remove the useless parasitical middle-men-the people who make all the decisions, who take everything we produce, and (reluctantly) give back as little as possible.
This is the very definition of exploitation.
Our thinking and worldview is devastatingly flawed from the very core. The Earth isn’t simply an infinite pile of resources to take, exploit and profit from. The Earth is an intricate system that includes everything and everyone who lives on it. The natural systems flow, in a kind of circular motion of ongoing sharing.
Living as part of Nature (instead of as Nature’s master) we would take merely enough, and pass on whatever is more than needed. This system, unlike the human system of unlimited greed (and stupidity), doesn’t take and take and take and destroy the eco-system and endanger every creature on the planet.
Nature has evolved into a clever, complex and sustainable system. We are a part of that system, and completely and unalterably dependent on it. Our health is inextricably tied to the health of the Earth.
We’d better stop being selfish and stupid and learn to care about and respect Nature.
Ending Greed and Stupidity By Refusing to Cooperate With It
The systems of stupidity, of greed, of exploitation and abuse, do not exist without our cooperation and active support. We remain on this doomed course as long as we obey our leaders and go along with the existing systems.
Yes, there are competing systems and competing leaders but they are all united in their greed, in their lust for power, in their obliviousness to Life and to Nature.
We can never trust or depend on them. We must stop the insanity by NOT WORKING TO DESTROY THE PLANET. When we stop drilling for oil, stop operating natural gas pipelines, when we stop mining coal—then we begin to rescue the Earth and ourselves and our children-and even our stupid opponents.
This is our plan. This isn’t an original plan. Our movement is standing on the shoulders of giants, including Gandhi, and King and other lesser-known pioneers.
We are protecting all that’s good, and letting everything evil whither away from our neglect. If people refuse to cooperate with evil, then it disappears. That’s our plan and that’s what’s worked for successful movements of the past.
