There’s no meaningful resistance only if you look for it in the wrong places.
The revolution has begun. It isn’t being televised. And it’s in the early stages. The authorities are hoping that, because they are ignoring it, that it will whither and go away.
It won’t. It will grow. It will make mistakes and suffer setbacks. But it will learn. And it will win.
These protest began months ago and they are spreading and growing. But they rarely make the news. Intentionally.
Now this isn’t inevitable, but it’s the most likely outcome. Why do I believe this when almost everyone thinks that fascism is gaining strength and the world is going to hell?
Like the Vietnamese, We Have No Place To Go
We are being attacked where we live, in our own country. When we wonder, how did the United States, the most powerful nation on Earth, a nuclear power, lose a war to the North Vietnamese?
It’s the same reason that the Americans won the revolution. The colonists had nowhere to go. The Vietnamese had nowhere to go. And today’s freedom fighters also have nowhere to go.
We are already home. We just need to take down the bully.
The reasons for the current war are similar to those precedents—stifling oppression where we live. But our approach will be more like Gandhi’s. There will be no shooting war; at least OUR side won’t be shooting.
The other side WILL shoot and the protests will shrink—or even stop. But the movement will grow, and gain strength and switch to different, more effective tactics. At some point—I’m hoping sooner—the resistance will stop merely reacting to the oppressors latest outrage, and instead SEIZE THE INITIATIVE. We will play to our strengths, and to the crippling weakness of our opponents.
Our Strength. Their Weakness.
The protests are by different groups, and they are happening everywhere.
As you (should) know, after the Constitutional Convention in 1787 in Philadelphia, Ben Franklin was asked “What kind of government have you given us, Mr. Franklin?” And he answered, “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”
Right now, it appears that we have failed to keep it. But this story isn’t over. It’s just beginning. And we will do better than keep it. We will create something better, a new revolution that protects the dignity and wellbeing of people and of Nature Herself.
Right now, the resistance needs two things: they need to understand that they can win and they must know what to do NOW, at this stage.
Even without this, the Resistance should win because, well, they have no other option. But, it will go better if we act with confidence and determination and if we use more effective tactics.
Large protests help spread the revolt—it shows everyone that we don’t support what’s being done to us, and that we are gearing up to stop the destruction of our lives and our planet.

The resistance is a starfish. We replicate and will replicate faster as time goes by. Even after an arm or two is cut off by the violence of fascists. When that happens, we will grow faster and become unstoppable.

The counter-attack of the old order will signal its weakness and accelerate our victory. That’s the way movements work, that’s how they succeed, that’s the way of history.
Overconfident tyrants overreach, believing that they are all-powerful, ignore their own weakness—and are stunned by their defeat.
What is the weakness of tyrants?
Orban. Bolsanaro. Mubarak. Ceaușescu. The Shah. Musk. Trump.
All of these people have only one power—the power of our obedience. They do nothing. They tell us what to do. They enforce their will with lies and armed goons. And they grow drunk with power.
Drunk and stupid.
Our power is to NOT OBEY. Our power is to tell the enforcers—police, military—to support US, their loved ones, relatives, friends, spouses—and NOT enforce the will of our oppressors. This isn’t something new. This is a common part of every successful people power movement.
We know what to do, how to win, from a long history of successful movements. We even know how to prevent a new boss from emerging that replaces the old defeated boss. We know how to prevent the emergence of an Al-Sisi or a Putin.
We offer a clear vision of a new, better society—one built on a solid foundation of humane values. A society resistant, let’s use the word “vaccinated,” against fascism and plutocracy and greed and bigotry.
